About

Red Canyon Arabians was founded in the early 2000s by Sarah and Michael Calloway, who came to Arabian horses by way of endurance riding and never looked back. What started as a single mare and a dream has grown into a small but serious breeding program with horses competing - and winning - in halter, western pleasure, english pleasure, and endurance disciplines across the country.

We're based outside Sedona, Arizona, on 40 acres of high desert that our horses seem to love as much as we do. The red rock landscape is as much a part of our identity as the horses themselves.

Our program is purebred only. We do not breed derivatives or partbreds. Our focus is on producing horses of correct conformation, genuine Arabian type, and willing temperament - horses that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Our Breeding Philosophy

We believe the Arabian horse should be an all-rounder first. A horse that wins in the halter ring but can't be ridden, or a horse that excels on the trail but lacks type, is not what we're working toward. Every pairing we make is considered carefully: we look at structure, bloodline compatibility, temperament, and what each horse needs to improve in the next generation.

Our stud is built around our mares. We have two main mare families - the Zahara line and the Moonfire line - each with its own character and strengths. New mares are introduced thoughtfully, only when they bring something genuinely complementary to the program.

Registration and Health

All horses bred at Red Canyon are registered with the Arabian Horse Association (AHA). We test regularly for breed-relevant genetic conditions, maintain up-to-date Coggins tests, and are happy to share full health records with prospective buyers.

We built this site with Breedpost - a platform designed for breeders that makes it easy to manage pedigrees, publish foal announcements, and keep the Arabian community informed, without needing a web developer.
