Zahara Mare Family
The Zahara family traces back to our foundation mare Desert Wind Zahara, a straight Egyptian mare purchased in 2004. Zahara herself was a Regional Champion and a prolific producer - she gave us seven foals over ten seasons, four of whom remain in the program today. Her daughters and granddaughters are the heart of Red Canyon Arabians.
Zahara
Zahara passed in 2022 at the age of 23. She is the reason this stud exists.
Zaheera is Zahara's eldest daughter and one of our best producers. She is a three-time Regional Champion in halter and has passed her dam's type and her sire's refinement to every foal she's carried. She is currently in foal to Radiance for a spring 2026 foal - a cross we have wanted to make for two years.
Zara is the best young mare in the Zahara line - a striking grey with exceptional movement and a competitive show record for her age. She had her first foal in 2025, a filly by Salaadin, and handled motherhood with complete ease. She will be a cornerstone of this program for the next decade.
Zahira is Zahara's last foal and carries a little of everything her dam had - the type, the eye, the quiet authority. She is not a show mare by temperament; she prefers trails and open country to arenas. She has competed in endurance events with Sarah and placed at 50-mile level. Her 2025 foal by Radiance is already turning heads.
